HUMBLE
BEGINNINGS
Many would agree that some of the greatest things men have accomplished were all to impress a girl. This story doesn’t fall far from that tree. A guy made something for a girl. That something went viral. That something led to new things and the next thing you know AOF Design became a thing.
With AOF Design, my focus is on hand-crafted, one of a kind goods. Pieces that not only assist you with your day-to-day but look good doing it. Function is the key, if an object can’t do it’s job well then what’s the point?
Every piece is meticulously crafted by hand with special care and attention to every detail. I make it a priority to resource from local vendors and businesses, making AOF Design products 100% made in the greater Los Angeles.
Growing up I’ve always had an affinity towards tinkering with my own two hands. It definitely harkens back to seeing my dad fixing everything around the house and I, having not much of a choice, was required to help him do so. Needless to say, I became a very good flashlight holder.
Because of my father’s DIY attitude, I quickly adopted the same mentality fixing and modifying my toys and radios. As an adult that way of life overflowed into motorcycles and furniture.
Tradition and heritage have always been close to my heart, learning tips and tricks from old-timers who had years to perfect their craft. That’s where my love for old, used, vintage objects grew. There’s so much our past can tell us. Without it, we wouldn’t be here today.
Through years of building and creating I found the art in all of the things I did. The creative process is the best drug in the world. There’s nothing like imagining something in your mind and seeing it tangibly come to life, sitting there right before you. It doesn’t matter the medium; that process is something I’ll always be hooked on.
I’m not one to label or feel I can live up to the title of an ‘artist’ but maybe, through much practice and continued growth, someday I can.
“To all of you who appreciate quality, hand-made goods. To those who helped make this endeavor possible. To my saviour king for everything.”
